Palace of Versailles , Place d'Armes, 78000 Versailles, France
Begin your full-day exploration of the UNESCO-listed Versailles with a walk through the expansive Versailles Gardens, one of the most visited places in the country.

The huge space, covering 1,977 acres (800 hectares), blooms with roughly 210,000 flowers planted each year. Learn more about the history of the gardens and how they were used from your expert guide.

Take advantage of skip-the-line access to avoid waiting at the entrance to the Versailles Palace, where you'll go on the next stop on your guided tour. Learn how this extravagant place was both a private home for the royal family and the center of political power from 1682 until 1789. Walk through the king's and queen's apartments, the fabulous Hall of Mirrors and the Royal Chapel.

Visitors who are at Versailles on a Sunday get an added bonus of seeing a fountain show in the morning in the gardens. The ornate fountain show is coordinated to a classical music soundtrack, which makes a morning walk through the gardens even more delightful.

Take a break for lunch (own expense), then follow your guide to the Grand Trianon. Louis XIV had this lodge built in 1670 to offer respite from the formal palace. Next, visit Marie Antoinette's Estate, where you'll see the Petit Trianon – the queen's private retreat – along with the French Pavilion and Queen's Hamlet.

Our tour guide, Isabelle, was very knowledgeable and friendly. She was able to share key points with us during the tour of the palace and gardens. There is so much to see and we would recommend very comfortable shoes as we walked about 5 miles in total.

Tiring but worth it

I enjoyed my tour very much. Sophie was very knowledgeable and thoughtful. It was an extremely hot day which made the tour very tiring, but Sophie knew all the shady spots where the group could rest and where to refill water bottles. You definitely need comfortable shoes for the all day tour. This would be a difficult tour if you have difficulty walking at a moderate pace. I'm glad I did the all day tour because I felt like I didn't miss anything important on my only day at Versailles.

Sophie was a wonderful guide: knowledgeable; articulate; informative; and extremely skilled at navigating the very challenging crowds and logistics at Versailles. My sister and I had looked forward to this excursion for months and it did not disappoint. Thank you Sophie!

The hall of mirrors & the gardens .The Trianon were also nice the only downside is that we had to go to the office a pick up place in Paris would’ve helped a lot more . At the end of the day you can’t feel your feet as it’s a lot of walking I didn’t mind that just be aware .

Big thanks to viator and our guide anne sophie, for making what could have been an awful experience into an amazing one! Our train to versailles was cancelled with no other options available. It took us forever to get an uber/taxi, but calling viator ensured our guide anne sophie waited for us as long as she could so we would not miss the tour. Anne sophie was also a very knowledgeable and charismatic; glad we didn’t miss this experience!

Versailles Awesome! Guide Laura Even Better!

, Jul 2022
Our guide Laura was an absolute All-Star. Our 4 day trip to Paris was highlighted by our all-day adventure to Versailles. The Chateau and grounds are marvelous, but with the history and context that Laura was able to provide the entire experience came to life. You know you have a great guide when they are able to answer your unsolicited questions and not just stick to the script. 10 stars for the tour and our fabulous Laura.

I loved everything about this tour! It was intense in terms of walking but I would easily do it again because it was worth it. Our guide Sophie was so amazing, kind and very educated on all of the interesting facts, back stories and she made the tour easy and fun for everyone. Unfortunately we didn’t get to see the fountain show because there were problems with the system but regardless it was an amazing day!

Versailles with Anne-Sophy the expert!!

, Jul 2022
Our guide Anne-Sophie had a deep knowledgeable of French history, art and architecture. Best of all, she knew all the juicy stories about previous kings, the women in the lives, and the mischief they got up to! She did an outstanding job of managing our entire visit. We moved safely and comfortably through the many rooms and garden sites despite the crazy crowds! In the height of summer, it pays to go with a local who knows how to hack the system, without compromising on a unique experience!

Anne-Sophie, our guide, was wonderful. Very knowledgeable about French history, monarchy, and Versailles. I had been to Versailles previously but not with a professional guide and it is a completely different experience and worth the reservation. The hall of mirrors never fails to disappoint but Sophie included how the exterior landscaping was designed to highlight and reflect the sun making it more impressive. The hamlet was stunning and a must see!
