Doge's Palace & Prisons Ticket and Tour

Had a great time, very informative and interesting. Wonderful tour guide has us guessing and made it fun!

Stephano was our guide was a very friendly and knowledgeable, he is a local Venetian and really made the tour enjoyable and informative. The tour of the Doges Palace was informative from both historical and human interest/cultural perspectives. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour and heavily recommend!

This tour was very interesting. When you walk across the Bridge of Sighs you can see why it was called that. Seeing the prisoner's graffiti on the walls and walking through the cells really brings history to life. The Doge's Palace tour was interesting too.

Tour as described. Excellent meeting directions. A must see in Venice. Well worth the time and visit.

Directions of where to meet were absolutely terrible!! Not detailed at all! We ended up missing the tour even though we showed up almost min. prior because we never found the garden? Across from gondola dock or on the Southeast side of the Palace would have been a better description because there was construction in front what evidently was we think was the garden (even locals didn't know where garden when we asked was or other tour operators or palace ticket staff!!) so we walked all over, around & inside the Palace on all 4 sides in heavy rain looking for the meeting place. Phone number to call didn't work. We ended up having to purchase tickets all over again & see the Doge's Palace on our own over an hour later. We feel we should receive a refund because all other tours we went on came with excellent directions & the phone number when necessary worked fine. This was an awful way to start our trip in Venice & I would not recommend to anyone due to such poor directions.

This tour was amazing! Our tour guide, Fiona, shared a ton of information with us as she led us through this beautiful building. We learned so much about the history of Venice (and got to skip the huge line to get in!). Would definitely recommend this tour!

We stayed in Venice an additional day after our Trafalgar Tour just to take this tour inside the palace. To learn of the Doges is truly one of the most important aspects of the history of Venice that should not be missed. The guide was fabulous...interesting, knowledgeable and easily understood.

We arrived in the area of St Marks Square at 12.15 and had a soft drink overlooking the waterway between the Doge’s Palace and the Royal Gardens. At 12:40 we walked down to the Gardens, past the artists and couldn’t find the guide, we looked for some time and as we could not see the guide, walked back to the square and asked other guides if they had any knowledge of where the guide may be, they said they did not know but all tours started at the location we were at. As it was know 12.57 we went to the Doge’s Palace went through security and presented the voucher at the desk and was referred to the ticket office, it was now 1pm and we were refused admission. We went back outside and waited for a few minutes, then attempted to contact the office listed on the voucher, both the ordinary number and the Emergency number at 13.07 hrs, both were not answered.I then looked up the company on the internet and again telephoned the office, this time it was answered and we were informed that the guide had waited for us, apparently he had a board which he supposedly held in front of him, we saw no sign in the location but did see someone standing by the waterfront with people around him, but as he was standing by a jetty it appeared he was taking a tour to the islands. Speaking to the representative she stated that we had missed the tour but could join the one the following day, we could not accept this as we had another tour booked for then, we were only in Venice for the weekend. It was then the person offered us admission tickets which we accepted as we really wanted to see the Palace, we then walked back to the Palace, paid extra for the audio tour and toured the Palace, it was spectacular and well worth visiting, highly recommended. It is a pity that the Guide did not make themselves know more effectively but I believe that will now be rectified after we spoke to the office representative. Disappointed that the Guide was not more visible Positive response from the office in offering another tour, or admission ticketstickets

Excellent guide - Andrea - so full of interesting details, history and intrigue. Really knew how to move us through crowds and maneuvering his group to have an open space to ourselves where we could see things well.
