Choose from a private or small-group tour and enjoy skip-the-line entry to the Colosseum, the enormous amphitheater in the historic center of Rome. Hear stories about the bloody gladiator games once fought there, including some against ferocious animals, as gladiators fought for a chance at their freedom.

Stop At:
Basilica of Maxentius
The best thing about this tour and out of any other tours in Rome is the fact that it’s a favorite tour to entice kids into the midst of Roman history, something that is very important. The tour is fully outdoors and the itinerary and stories they’ll learn are really exciting and it’s perfectly okay if they touch things. As with any ruins there are boundaries to be respected however being outdoors is better than being inside a busy and packed boundary lined museum as there are fewer restrictions - they can explore and imagine about more interesting places.

Marco was outstanding. We were in Italy for over two weeks and he was the one thing they keep telling people about. He brought history to love with them, kept them engaged and was genuinely a great guy. Thank you so much for making our first night in Italy a memorable one!!!

We took the for kids Colosseum tour with a 7 and 4 year old. The group was perfectly paced and curated by a knowledgeable and patient young archaeologist. We learned, and our kids learned while being engage and entertained. Bring lots of water! Long lines at fountains and stands.

This tour was well worth the extra cost. Our private tour guide was wonderful. He was fun, knowledgeable and went above and beyond to make it exciting for our 6 year old. Having him as a guide made it so much easier to navigate through the tour and skipping the lines was a major benefit.

Guide didn’t show

Our guide did not show up - the service said that Viator never communicated our reservation to them. It was very upsetting as we had gone out of our way to select and book a private tour.

Great Family Tour
Alastair_S
, Apr 2022
A truly memorable, informative and fun tour which is ideal for families. Our guide Christina really made the Coliseum and forum come alive for our 9yr old. She had quizzes and games which taught us a lot about the structures themselves and the Roman society which used them. The private tour was well worth the cost and we were able to go into and around the areas without any delays. Really relaxing, informative and fun for everyone.

Patience 101 - Roma Colosseum with Kids

This tour met all expectations, the sights and experience of visiting the Colosseum and Roman Forum was memorable and enjoyable for the whole family. Our guide (Simona) was knowledgeable, engaging and especially patient with our kids (6 and 8 year old active boys). We all had a wonderful time and as such can recommend this tour to other families traveling with younger kids. Would probably suggest that under 6 year olds may struggle with the duration (3 solid hours).

We spent our afternoon with Alessandra! She was amazing and really good with our 8 and 5 year old. She brought activity sheets and colored pencils to keep the kids engaged. She was also very knowledgeable on the topics my kids discussed and the questions they asked. We ended up being the only family she had that day which made it feel like our own private tour. Overall, I would absolutely recommend this event to those that want to visit the monuments with young kids.

An enjoyable experience touring the Colosseum and the Forum

This was a great experience for my family. As it was our first family vacation to Italy and Rome, we wanted to book something that our kids would enjoy and not be bored walking around and listening to a group tour guide. We had Francesco as our guide and the four of us were the only family signed up for this particular date and time so we got extra attention and insight from our excellent tour guide Francesco. He kept the kids engaged with games and quizzed them on what he has shown. Would highly recommend

Simona was a knowledgeable guide who kept our small children entertained with her fun and easy to follow games. She made it all very simple and in turn even us parents got to retain a lot more info because of it! I recommend this tour for families who want a more intimate lesson on Roman history.

Alex was incredible. We have a one, four, eight, and ten year old. She engaged all if them. They loved it. She read us all so well and knew when we needed to rest or when we needed to move on. She was funny and informative and sweet. She was also incredibly intelligent and well studied, answering our questions with clear expertise. Thank you! You made our experience at the Colosseum and Roman Forum incredible.

Maria our lovely Rome tour guide
Petriana_B
, Sep 2020
We booked our tour at the colosseum the night before which was supposed to be with another family, however they never showed up and we had Maria all to our self. She was amazing from start to finish. Very informative with all the questions all four of us had and most of all patient. She made it very interactive by playing games throughout the tour (with PRIZES!!(souvenirs) for our boys and us as well. I don't think the kids will forget this wonderful experience being able to go back in time and hear the stories about how things were.

Excellent tour for families

We were only two families and coincidentally we both had one boy who were just 1-2 years apart and got along great. Alessandra was able to keep both of their attention for almost 3 hours, amazing! By describing the sites and asking them a lot questions they took it as a game and at every correct answer they would get “points”. Having a very active boy I was afraid he would get bored but he never did! And neither did we!
