Cinque Terre is one of Italy’s most captivating landscapes. Translated as ‘five lands,’ the region is made up of five unique fishing villages that line the Italian Riviera.

Your day trip begins in central Florence, where meet your guide and hop aboard your coach to head out toward the seashore. Stop first in the southernmost village of Riomaggiore, which dates back to the 13th century. Beloved for its local wine and incomparable scenery, admire the pastel-colored buildings as you follow your guide along the cobblestone streets.

Head to the tiny village of Manarola next, home to medieval relics and a plethora of grapevines. Stroll the harbor and take snapshots of the beautiful, bright buildings that cling to the cliff.

Then, weather permitting, hop aboard your boat to travel to Monterosso. If you choose to include lunch with your ticket, settle down in one of the village’s restaurants for a traditional helping of seafood and pasta, complemented by wine and water. (A sample menu can be found in the Itinerary section.)

Afterward, with taste buds and stomach sated, enjoy some time to explore independently. Unpack your bathing suit and hit the jeweled waters of Monterosso’s stunning beaches.

Make a final stop in Vernazza, bordered by terraced olive groves that are said to produce some of the finest olive oil in Italy. Explore the bustling square and winding streets at your leisure, before returning back to Florence.

Note: Cinque Terre low-cost option does not include train and boat tickets.

My husband and I of 17 years, wanted to go to Italy for my birthday. The places were great to see. We have been to Italy countless times before, so just wanted to go away and relax. The people on the trip started conversations with us, then didn't like where we lived in Germany, to the point.. they thought our conversation was to make them jealous, so they started competing with us. It was totally insane. There was four young women and a couple causing issues. My husband I totally ignored them and enjoyed our time. However, at the end, Cositano, asked me when my husband was off to the bathroom. "Are you sure you want to wait for your husband?" As implying, nonsense. I whipped back, "20 YeARS! and yes!" As well, as kept popping out behind us more than once, whatever the reason for it, again, unacceptable. He also, paired up at lunch, two single women with us, a married couple.. that in itself was just unwise, and again, up to no good. My husband and I made it and awesome trip, but we knew what was going on, and it's just totally absurd to act that way. The tour was good.

Had beautiful weather and the tour was perfect for me. It provided transportation and guidance but also allowed for lots of free time. Our tour guide Valentino was amazing! She was very conscientious about making sure the whole group God from one point to the next. She was very nice and informative. I would highly recommend asking for her to be your guide. She spoke English and Spanish beautifully with a smile at all times. The villages for beautiful. I would highly suggest that you spend some time around the beach area at the second stop and consider having lunch overlooking the water. Fariba

Bad homophobic treatment and lack of empathy to injured customers
Aleksei_S
, Sep 2021
It’s very sad and unfortunate that we had a terrible experienced. Constantino was unaware of the fact that I was walking with a cane and an orthopedic boot and left us behind when taking the train to start our excursion. We had to call the company to get directions. Besides the fact the he left us, he made a homophobic mad gesture to a person at the beach referring about us as a homosexual couple. That was very mean, rude and humiliating. He wanted me to wait at the train station to wait for the group because I couldn’t walk to the last stop of the trip. He asked us to be back on time at the train station at 5 and he showed up 20 Minutes late. That was very inconsiderate because I was in pain with my leg and had to wait standing waiting for him and the group. I don’t tolerate being mistreated because of my sexual preference and the lack of empathy. It is very sad because I have a lot of friends that travel to Florence and I will not recommend this trip Or any other due to this bad experience

Dear Aleksei, I am very sorry to read this review and your account of your experience. I would like to clarify that in no way was Costantino making a homophobic gesture to you, about you or anyone else. Costantino is one of our best guides who has worked with us for over 5 years. We have never had any problems with him and it is for this reason that I can confidently say that he was, in no way, acting in a homophic manner. Furthermore, I am sorry that your injury made it difficult for you to participate in this tour. It is clearly stated, in multiple places in the description of this tour, that this tour is not suited for people with mobility issues and requires a moderate level of physical fitness. Because of the nature of Cinque Terre, it is necessary to walk a considerable amount and in a timely manner to reach the trains on time. It is for this reason that the following is stated in the tour description “ Travelers should have a moderate physical fitness level, should have no back problems and no Serious Medical Conditions, & the tour is not wheelchair accessible.” Furthermore, you did not inform Costantino or anyone else of any mobility issues prior to arriving in Cinque Terre. Had you done so, he could have done his best to accommodate you from the start. Once Costantino was made aware of your mobility issues, he went above and beyond to make the tour comfortable for you. He accompanied you to a pharmacy, set up a single table at the restaurant to give you more space, and called a taxi for you upon returning to Florence. We are truly saddened to read your accusation about our staff and would like to point out that we did not appreciate the vulgar language you used on the phone with our office. We work everyday to provide the best experiences to our clients, who come from all over the world with various backgrounds and preferences and we are truly saddened to read your review about our staff. We feel the need to defend our office staff and Costantino since we also spoke with you on the phone during the tour to help you find the group. I apologize that your injured leg made this tour less enjoyable for you and hope you feel better soon.

I wouldn't go with a group and just do it myself for better economic time and less crowd.
Jason_H
, Aug 2021
The trip included lots if wait time for trains and too many rides. No boat was offered to give a variety to the boring commuting means. Also, meeting points were in super hot spots which felt a punishment. No water offered for passengers. Areas were full of tourists and no time to enjoy the water or take a dive. The included lunch was below par especially the dessert (canned fruits and a spoon of awful icecream), I mean come on, this is Florence, the land of best foods and drinks.
icon Response from Host , Sep 2021
Dear Jason, Thank you for your feedback concerning this tour. We are sorry to hear that the tour did not meet your expectations. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the area, the only way to move between the 5 villages is with trains or boats. When the weather permits, a commute via ferry is included in the tour. However, this is completely dependent on the weather and is ultimately up to the ferry company to make a decision regarding the safety of the ferry. The safety of our clients is our top priority and if we are advised that the ferry is not safe, we must follow the professional’s suggestions. We are sorry that due to conditions out of our control, you were unable to use the ferry on this tour. We hope that despite this, you still found the landscapes of Cinque Terre beautiful. The tour leader tries their best to establish identifiable and clear meeting points for the group and I can assure you that the were not intentionally in the sun. It is true that during August, the area can be quite crowded, as it’s beauty and uniqueness attracts people from all over the world (rightfully so). Despite the crowds, our professional tour leaders work to ensure that our clients have the best experience possible. The food from the region of Cinque Terre is some of the best in Italy, that being said we are sorry that you were not satisfied with the meal. We hope you enjoyed visiting the breathtaking Cinque Terre.

Beautiful villages, great guide!
Laura_D
, Aug 2021
This day trip was wonderful! A great amount of time in four villages (we didn’t go to the smallest of the cinque terre villages). The area is absolutely stunning!! The guide was wonderful! He explained the directions for meeting, which train stops and times very clearly and also shared a few options for what to do at each stop. We added the lunch option for our day and it was delicious.
