The Real Cretan Cooking Experience

It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience from start to finish. We learned so much about Cretan cuisine and culture. I really can't recommend this highly enough!

This tour was above and beyond what I expected. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the food, history, and culture of the island! If you are a history buff and love to cook, this tour would be perfect for you. The instructions with the cooking were very clear and would be acceptable for almost any skill level. The food at the end tasted GREAT! The wine tasting was amazing and again we learned so much about the history and making of the wine! One of my most favorite parts of the entire experience was being able to feed the goats and check out the garden where a lot of the food came from. Met people from all over the world. 10/10 would recommend and would do again.

Loved the setting of the house in the foothills overlooking the sea. The food and wine were delicious. Yannis was wonderful guide and very knowledgeable giving lots details and anecdotes. My spouse and two teenagers had a lovely evening.

Loved it, the host was amazing and taught Cretian history in addition to cooking. He spoke many languages proficiently and was also very accommodating. Definitely recommend!

We loved this cooking experience! Vincent was very knowledgeable and friendly. He made us feel like he was a friend taking us out and showing us around? I would highly recommend this cooking experience? The owners of the restaurant that gave the class were great hosts and taught us so many recipes that we will bring home and cook to remember our great trip.

Yantis (Sp?) picked us up in the historic area at 2:15 PM and drove us to a traditional family home in the mountains, with a view of White Mountain. It was a half hour trip and he gave us lots of information about Greece, now and historically, as well as explaining sights along the way. We met the wife who helped us to make stuffed vegetables and cheese pastries. While she did not speak English, she communicated very well anyway. Yanis sometimes narrated for her. We had appetizers and wine with more discussion about Greek life, with lots of opportunities to ask questions. We also saw the garden, the historic family artifacts and got a demonstration of the loom. We also saw the traditional lace and handcrafts. We ate the dinner we made, complimented with two other salads, bread and rusks. Yanis demonstrated the Greek dance. We had a grape dessert and raki. As a parting gift, they gave us each a bottle of olive oil and a jar of honey, both made on the premises. Yanis drove us back to town and we arrived maybe about 9:30 PM. This was such a rich experience and it was a major highlight of our trip. Yanis was an amazing guide. We had high expectations, but this class exceeded them all.

We had a wonderful time on the Crete cooking experience--it is cooking and so much more - culture, antiques, and wonderful people, as well as great food and wine and cooking lessons. The setting is gorgeous as well. A great experience that enhanced our knowledge of Crete.

I cannot recommend this tour highly enough. We were only 5 on the tour which was so much fun. Yianni was our driver/guide and he provided much local information on Chania as we travelled into the mountains for our cooking class. Adamantia was a delight as she taught us to cook some delicious dishes, and we thank her and her husband, George, for inviting us into their home. We also tasted a few wines and had a bit of a history lesson, and then sat down to the meal we had all just cooked - we were very delighted with our cooking efforts!! There was so much to eat. Thank you also to Maria who cleaned up after us and took care of the oven. We all look forward to the recipes and cooking the dishes when we are home. A tour not to be missed!

Our group of 6 had the most amazing time with guide Yannis and our lovely hosts. We learned so much about the island, Greece, history and had an absolute blast learning to cook an authentic Greek meal. At the end of our 2 week vacation throughout Greece, we all agreed that this was a highlight. Would do it again and again!

My husband and I absolutely loved this experience! The host is so friendly and welcoming and told us all about life in Crete. We had delicious food - that we cooked ourselves! It was a small group experience; only 8 people. It was the highlight of our trip and we will absolutely recommend it to anyone who is looking for a cultural experience in Chania!
