Definitely worth a visit

I had a lovely morning with my guide. I was picked up outside my hotel on time and then we drove to the mine. The tour started on thedrive with interesting sites pointed out en route. The salt mine is an interesting experience to see and explore - even the ferris wheel inside!
Please wear walking shoes - there are steps and it can be slippy.

This tour was amazing. The tour guide was super nice and new tons about the area. Once we got to the Turda Salt Mine, he knew even more! He knew the history, the details, little known facts, any question I had was answered!! I definitely recommend this tour!

The salt mine was amazing. I could overlook the Disneyland aspects and focus on the beauty and history. We had a rough start because our guide was 40-45 minutes late. We sat in the lobby and became concerned that we had been stood-up. She came and said traffic was bad and that she had tried to contact us. The Hotel had no record of any call. (Cluj has bad traffic at peak times everyday so this should have been anticipated.) Also we were not told that there would be others on the tour, as we thought it would be just my husband and me. We had to pick up someone else after this. Four people were fine with us, as it turned out. Needs to tighten up on these aspects. The guide was fine once we got started.

Have visited the salt mine before, bit took the opportunity to take the 7 year old on a Minecraft style adventure. The local guide is definitely worth it. In our case, Joseph was very knowledgeable, giving us then rash course in current Romanian economic and cultural landscape on our way there. The mine itself is spectacular. The scale is really something else. Highly recommended.
