Then, satisfy your sweet tour with loukoumades (Greek donuts) smothered in honey and cinnamon. In the Central Market, browse stalls brimming with Greek produce and then proceed to the commercial center of Athens to sample what are arguably the city’s best Greek pies, filled with feta and spinach.

We start our experience from Monastiraki square Οur guide will be waiting for you, at Monastiraki square, in front of the little medieval church with the tower bell. We discover few the Romam, medieval, Ottoman past of the city, and how life goes on now. We start our tour with a coffee, Greeks are heavy coffee drinkers and like to socialize in cafes, and a fresh koulouri, from one of the oldest bakery which is the source of all peddlers in Athens, for those who have sweet tooth hot loukoumades with honey and cinnamon is a must. We stroll around the central Market and the old commercial center in Athens, and we taste the best Greek pies in Athens, in one of the most old and famous and pastry shop in Athens, no worries the are choices for vegans and vegetarians also, our tour is ending with fresh soups or souvlaki. Great tour through the flea market and trying some local traditional Greek dishes that tourists would not typically know about. Some of the restaurants that we ate at were for locals and it was nice to be able to see what the locals eat and how they dine. I highly recommend this tour.

Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable, however there was nothing special, memorable or unique about the experience. There were only two of us, which I though would create a more intimate experience. The food was okay, not great. I've had other tours in other cities and this did not compare, Rome, Lisbon, etc. I felt responsible and was apologetic toward my travel partner as I made the suggestion to do the tour.

It ended up being a private tour for the two of us. We were shown through a bustling part of town, up and coming from its days as a red light district and now a cool place. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the neighborhood and its history. We learnt that cold frappé is the real Greek coffee, had great pastry, tasted cheese and ham, were shown the best gyros in town and had a marvelous dessert. Great fund and impossible to find on our own: Well worth the tour!
