Return Details

Returns to original departure point
Begin with a pickup from your central Athens hotel. Meet your knowledgeable guide, hop inside your air-conditioned minivan, and head into the heart of the city.

Have your camera poised as you pause outside the peach-painted Greek Parliament House in Syntagma Square. Snap photos at the Monument to the Unknown Soldier as the evzones (Greek presidential guards) perform the perfectly co-ordinated ritual of the Changing of the Guard ceremony.

Keep your camera ready as you continue your drive around some Athens attractions. View the leafy National Garden, the buildings of the University of Athens, and more, and stop to take pictures of the Panathinaikos Stadium. Gaze through the entrance at this outdoor, 60,000-seater stadium as you learn how it was the stage for the first modern Olympic Games in 1896, and is built using the excavated remnants of an ancient stadium.

Circle around the Roman Temple of Zeus and Hadrian’s Arch, and head for the UNESCO-listed Acropolis, Athens’ ancient rocktop citadel.

Leave your minivan, and take a guided walk around the Acropolis’ main treasures. Inspect the Parthenon the temple dedicated to the Greek goddess Athena and marvel at other timeworn buildings such as the Nike Temple, Erectheion, Propylaia and others.

Having explored here, visit the stunning New Acropolis Museum, a recently built space ranked as one of the best five museums in the world. Explore the main collections of statues, friezes and carvings, all excavated from the Acropolis area.

Afterward, return to the start point where your tour concludes.

I confirmed this reservation the night before. I got an email back that said this activity is cancelled and that we tried to call you. I never received a call, plus they had my email. They could have emailed me. I still have yet to receive my refund.

It seems like they don't have this small group tour anymore. The tour operator called me the day before and told me they only had the large group one without the Agora available. They gave me back 21 Euro in cash at their office which was the difference in price of small and large group tour. The only difference was not seeing the Agora, which you can easily do on your own when the tour ends. Overall it was definitely a very informative and great tour. The guide was great and she provided so much info at each sight. Plenty of free time at the Parthenon to take as many pics as you wanted. The Acropolis Museum was amazing and I learned a ton. I'd book this tour again, small group or not.

This was the highlight I was waiting for when I booked my trip to Greece and it was worth it. It happened to be the hottest day of the summer, but our guide, Anastasia, was considerate, and smartly walked us up the slope with frequent breaks. She was knowledgeable, and passionate about the history. It was a good move to have us review all the pieces in the Acropolis museum before actually going up the hill - it made for great visualisation. The walk through the Agora, followed by Plaka were fascinating as well.
