Athens City Tour with The Acropolis, Ancient Agora and The Agora Museum

Meet your guide and tour group in the Syntagma metro station, then make a brief visit to the Metro Museum. See the artifacts that were dug up when the metro station was constructed; these items help give a picture of the daily lives of ancient Athenians. 

Move on to the House of the Greek Parliament and the Monument of the Unknown Soldier, where you will witness the changing of the guards. See native Greek flora at the National Gardens, then to the photo-worthy neoclassical architecture of Zappeion Hall. Stand below the looming surviving columns of Hadrian's Arch and the Temple of Zeus, which stand in front of the hall. 

Follow your guide through the Acropolis' south slope entrance, which is less crowded and will get you in quickly to see the Dionysus Theater and the Dionysus sanctuary. Stop for a snack and some refreshments at the Acropolis canteen (own expense) before your tour.  Explore all of the Acropolis' famous monuments, such as Pnyx Hill, Mars Hill, Philopappos, the Observatory, the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, the Agrippa Monument, Nike Temple, the Propylaia, the Erechtheion and the Parthenon. As you walk, snap photos and listen to your guide's engaging commentary. After your guided tour, feel free to explore independently and take photos. 

Head down to the Ancient Agora, once the community center of ancient Athenian life, and the location of lectures by the famous philosophers Socrates and Plato. Visit the Hephaestus Temple (the best preserved Greek Temple from the 5th century BC), the CHurch of the 12 Apostles, the Temple of Apollo Patroos, the Stoa of Zeus and the Altar of Zeus.

At the Attalos Museum, see artifacts like ancient Greek identification cards and the original weights and measures used  by the Market inspectors.
