The best of Dutch countryside in one fun day

Loved the variety on this trip - seeing windmills, attending a cheese making presentation, tasting many delicious cheeses, hearing about the history of wooden shoes and seeing klompen being made! The bus ride was very comfortable and it was nice to also experience a lovely boat ride around beautiful Giethoorn while watching fairytale cottages, followed by a delicious lunch at one of the local cafes. Fabulous guide Michael was entertaining, interesting, professional and friendly. Highly recommend and would do again!

Zaanse Schans was beautiful, gorgeous little village. I think we enjoyed this the most. Seeing how clogs are made was very interesting as was going inside one of the windmills and watching wind power of wind. Just a beautiful setting with great info. Giethoorn was a beautiful village and without the canal tour we would have missed some of the spots. I then allows you to walk around the village and enjoy it at your own pace.

Many Sights to See in the Contryside!

This two-part tour was a nice change from the crowded urban life in Amsterdam. After a short bus ride we arrived at Zaanse Schans Windmills. This site must be a popular stop for ship cruisers on their way to the airport. The cheese demonstration was quite informative. Lots of cheese samples to taste and plenty of cheese to buy. We enjoyed the wooden shoe demonstration. It was cool to watch them make a wooden shoe from a block of wood. There a plenty of good windmill pictures from every angle possible. Enjoyed the visit to the windmill to see how it operated from the inside. The tour guide gave us plenty of time to roam around. Then back on the bus to the village of Giethoorn. The one-hour boat ride was quite enjoyable with a great Captain telling stories along the way. We had plenty of time for a great lunch at one of restaurants along the canal and plenty of time to walk the canals and take many pictures of the houses and their flower gardens. Highly recommend this day-trip to the Dutch countryside.

Both Geithoorn & Zaanse...

Both Geithoorn & Zaanse Schans are 2 little gems, each unique in it's own way. Zandem with it's rural charm , medieval Wind Mills setting, unique wooden shoe and cottage cheese making factories, transport you back in time to the middle ages. While Geithoorn is a unique village paved by canals(rather than streets), & it's so enthralling to go around in a boat or on foot. In addition, what you carry with you forever is the tranquility & serenity of these 2 places. Ibrahim was an Excellent guide & a great storyteller. Kamal Sodhi, India

I don't know how this trip got so good reviews. It was a wierd experience, the only thing we had for 100£ was the transport and a boat tour in geithorn(which is €10 at the location), no story telling or information provided about geithorn. The guide went with another group and he left us with his "helping hand", a friend or someone, which had no knowlege about what we are seeing, we just had casual talks about the politics in Holland. I'm givig 2 start, just because this "friend" that was our guide was really trying to be nice.

Wonderful full day trip to these Must see villages. Beautiful, historic, relaxing. Our driver and guide Michael was great. Lots of personality and you could tell he loved Amsterdam and the villages. He was very informative during the entire drive. Once at the villages we had plenty of time to walk and explore on our own.

Great experience and would highly recommend it! You see two different towns - one right outside of Amsterdam with windmills and one (Giethoorn) 1.5 hours away that you go on your boat cruise for. Both are very cool places to see and the guide makes it very easy with plenty of time to tour. Please be aware of the *1.5 hour* bus ride both ways though. We also wish we had a bit more time to explore Giethoorn and less time in Zaanse Schans.

What a memorable day! Highly recommend this tour. Our guide Irbrahim was fantastic, provided lots of facts and history…but also fun. It’s a long day full of sightseeing, photo and shopping opportunities but at a pace that works for this small group tour and some rest time on the way back to the city.

I took my tour on June 19, 2022 - It was a great day - a long one, but a wonderful one. I am 71 and I appreciated the mixture of busy times and quiet times during the day. A proper time was allotted in each of the villages to "do your own thing". The first village, Zaanse Shans, is a constructed "Dutch Culture" village and Giethoorn is a regular village/town. It was a nice contrast. Our guide was excellent... a nice mixture of facts, laughs and quiet through the day - I was happy to "extra-tip" him as he brought the pieces of the day to life. As we drove across the Dutch countryside, he taught us many things. The bus was very comfortable. I recommend this tour without reservation - worth every penny. Also, just a note: I like to book through Viator - I have done so many times in many countries and do so with complete trust that they will stand behind the products that they offer. I recommend them unconditionally.
