The School of devotion and charity dedicated to S. Maria del Monte Carmelo was founded in 1594. Three years later it obtained official recognition and in 1767 it was elevated to "Grande". The internal rooms of the school have preserved the original original furnishings, consisting of important oil paintings, rich stucco ceilings and original carved wooden backs. The greatest artists have contributed to the construction of the Scuola Grande dei Carmini: by the architect Baldassarre Longhena who oversaw the design of the great Giambattista Tiepolo who between 1739 and 1749 painted the nine incomparable canvases on the ceiling of the "Sala del Chapter". The Venice Musicarmini Concert Association aims to add classical music with spectacular and top-level performances to this incredible context of sublime pictorial and architectural art

Friendinvenice, how to experience the true Venice, private tour

Friendinvenice, how to experience the true Venice, private tour

star-5
29
The best parts of Venice are always the secret and inespected ones. In my opinion in fact, "traveling" means "discovering". Travelers should therefore feel a constant urge to learn new things and see ... "more". In Venice, they would try to discover the whole city and live it at fullest. They would have to look at customs and traditions, support the arts and crafts, taste the local food ... in short, they would have fun. And in doing so, but also the emotions felt (and the eyes of those who led them). I would like to show you off-the-beaten-path, discovering the mysterious, the hidden corners of Venice which is not JUST St. Mark's Square: it's ALSO St. Mark's Square . I look forward to meeting you! Nadia, your "Friend in Venice"

Giudecca island discovery tour

Giudecca island discovery tour

star-5
5
Discover the fishbone-like shape Giudecca island, known to be Venice’s unofficial seventh sestiere, once an aristocratic retreat, later the city industrial centre and nowadays a trendy artistic district. Let’s walk through the largest and closest island to Venice, from which it is separated by the broad and deep Giudecca Canal enjoying breath-taking views on the splendid city. The peacefulness of the island also made it popular among religious communities and with patrician families who built palaces with lovely gardens and allotments there. You will see how after the fall of the Republic, these areas were converted into warehouses, barracks, prisons, factories and workers’ quarters, some of them nowadays converted for artistic ad modern purposes. You will be walking not only through the long pedestrian quay running the length of its Venice-facing side but also wandering its hidden lagoon-facing side with gardens, art galleries and residential neighbourhoods.
