The Basics

Pass through the vast bronze doors and stand under the center of the dome, where light (and sometimes rain) shines down into the open interior, before learning about the building’s history and architectural design with a local guide on a small-group or private guided tour.

Many other tour options, lasting three to four hours, combine a visit to the Pantheon with skip-the-line entry to the Colosseum or other popular Roman highlights such as the Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona, and the Roman Forum. You can also admire the Pantheon from the steps of the obelisk in Piazza della Rotonda.

A fun and informative tour!
My wife and I had a wonderful experience on this tour during our recent vacation in Rome! Our guide was extremely knowledgable, personable, and clearly very passionate about the history and culture of this beautiful city. Having such a knowledgable guide to lead us through the Colosseum, Forum, and other important areas in the city was a great way to see the main sights and make the most of our time in Rome. We highly recommend this tour!

Colosseum, Pantheon and Roman Forum Express: Small Group Tour Skip-the-Line Pass
The walk through the Roman Forum is amazing, and our guide was funny and very informative. The inside of the Pantheon is impressive, and the Colosseum was of course worth the ticket.
Money well spent

The Pantheon, Roman Ghetto and the Mouth of Truth Semi Private Tour
Clear, concise meeting location directions- even a text photo of our guide Jason. Very easy to connect! Jason, being an art historian gave us some great information about the Pantheon and it’s relationship to art history and timeframes. He was very friendly and also shared his knowledge of Italy. Even gave us a great restaurant referral for lunch. Bravo Jason-and thank you!

Official Guided Tour of the Pantheon in Rome
We had a brilliant tour guide. She went into extensive detail about the history of the Pantheon and how it was built. I would never have known such information if I had just walked around it. What an amazing building and really quite breathtaking and quite a mind blowing engineering feat. An absolute must to go and see.

Our experience with Olga was SO WONDERFUL!!!!! The tour started right away, we were able to enter the Pantheon immediately since Olga waited in line before our arrival. Pantheon: The Official Audio Guided Tour
The audio guided tour was informative and about the right level of detail for me. Probably nothing you couldn't have found online if you tried so maybe a bit expensive considering entry to the Pantheon is free and this doesn't let you jump the queue. The audio tour is delivered via an app on a loaned mobile phone and you have to leave an identity document as security deposit so don't forget your passport or driving licence when you go. The tour is easy to follow at your own pace using the phone.
Great tour guide!

Things to Know Before You Go

  • Wear comfy shoes, as walking tours are among the most popular ways to see this site.

  • Book a bus tour or a take a cool walking night tour around the illuminated fountains and buildings to avoid the worst of Rome's heat.

  • Bring your appetite on a food tour of Rome’s historical center that passes the Pantheon.

  • As the Pantheon is an active religious building, flash photography and loud conversations are discouraged.

  • The Pantheon is free to visit and open every day.

When to Get There

The Pantheon is open and popular with visitors every day. To see the building buzz with energy, attend weekend public mass, held Saturdays at 5pm and Sundays at 10:30am. Though the interior is not open at night, seeing the illuminated ancient architecture after dark is worth a visit in itself.

Things to do Nearby

The Pantheon is one of Rome’s top attractions, but there’s plenty more to see and do nearby. Don't miss the stunning Gothic interior of the Santa Maria Sopra Minerva church, just one block behind the Pantheon; then, continue on to the Spanish Steps on the Piazza de Spagna or head to the Trevi Fountain to make a wish.
