The Basics

Visit the Duomo independently or take a guided tour to learn more about the magnificent stained-glass windows, rooftop terraces, and underground crypt which houses the 16th-century tomb of St. Charles Borromeo. Time-pressed travelers can also combine a tour of the Duomo with the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II shopping arcade, La Scala Opera House, or a viewing of da Vinci’s The Last Supper. For more insight, don’t miss the adjacent Duomo Museum, which charts the buildings long and illustrious history.

Milan at its best.
The tour was limited to only 18 people at a specific time keeping it easy to social distance if necessary. Lara was very knowledgeable providing details and answering all questions that were asked of her. There is something to be said for small intimate tours. Very enjoyable!

Elisa: Expert in Milano

Best of Milan Walking Tour with Skip-the-Line Ticket to Duomo & ‘Last Supper’
Elisa was wonderful taking us through the Duomo, Galleria, La Scala, Castello Sforza, and last but not least the Last Supper! We had 5 in our family group and she was very patient with us (kids and all!) even amidst the reopening after COVID in Milano. She especially was great with the older kids (8 & 11) and made the art history accessible.

Best of Milan Walking Tour with Skip-the-Line Ticket to Duomo & ‘Last Supper’
Very knowledgeable guide but group of 14 so used headphones. Between guides accent and poor quality equipment much was missed. Static or no sound at all. Many in group kept touching earphones to try to improve reception. Outstanding job once in front of Last Supper. Superb explanation and we could all hear.

Highlights & Hidden Gems With Locals: Best of Milan Private Tour
We were in Milan for a few days and wanted to visit some of the top attractions and get an introduction to the city. Booked at the last minute and received an excellent private tour from Alisa. She was very knowledgeable, friendly and provided us with all of the information we could digest in a few hours. This is a great tour if you want to see the highlights and can then determine how to spend the rest of your trip.

Milan Highlights eBike tour
Small group. Worked well. Don’t be put off by a 3 hour bike ride. Amazingly easy with the E part and with our host graciously leading the way it made it stress free to follow along. Our guide Elizabeth was very personable and wove a just-right level of detail story through the morning providing a great introduction to the city. Highly recommended.

Best of Milan Walking Tour with Skip-the-Line Ticket to Duomo & ‘Last Supper’
Enjoyed the tour. The group size was good and the audio equipment enable everyone to hear, except it would cut out occasionally. The guide led us around to many sites, but it would have been nice to have had a map of the route or at least the sites visited. The Milan cathedral and the Last Supper were amazing!!!

Milan Half-Day Sightseeing Tour with da Vinci's 'The Last Supper'
Duomo fantastic detail by Max, our guide and took loads of questions and points of view. The Last Supper was very moving. Brilliant background by Max. I would have given tour five stars except Scala was closed, even though Viator advertised it as part of tour. Max five stars: tour four stars.

How to Get There

The Duomo is located in the historic center of the city, on pedestrianized Piazza del Duomo. Since it can't be directly accessed by car, it's best to reach the cathedral on foot or by public transport; the closest metro station is right in front of the cathedral. You can also book a private tour with included transportation. If you’re visiting Rome, Venice, or Verona but want to see the cathedral of Milan, note that high-speed train tickets are a very effective means of travel.

When to Get There

The largest church in Italy stays consistently busy throughout the day, but skip-the-line entry allows visitors to jump the queues no matter what the time. Evening tours are available for visitors who would prefer to spend their rooftop visit peering over an illuminated and awe-inspiring skyline.

Gothic Milan

While the Duomo is easily one of Milan's most impressive examples of Gothic architecture, there are further examples across the city for design and history buffs to admire. Check out one of the first Gothic buildings in Italy, the Chiaravelle Abbey, or visit the Palazzo Borromeo, just a 10-minute walk from Milan Cathedral.
