The Basics

While the Sagrada Familia looms large over Barcelona—it’s visible from many parts of the city—the cathedral should be seen up close and from within to truly be appreciated. Visitors can tour the interior on their own, on a guided tour, or with an audio guide. It’s also possible to take an elevator up one of the towers for sweeping views over the city.

Just about every sightseeing tour in Barcelona includes a stop here, as do hop-on hop-off bus tours, which also stop at Park Güell, Casa Batlló, La Pedrera, and Plaça de Catalunya. It’s possible to combine a visit to the Sagrada Familia with a half-day trip to the nearby mountain abbey of Montserrat or the medieval city of Girona.

Fun yet informative! Beautiful buildings!
Our guide was so funny, but very informative! I enjoy the tour because of him! It was the highlight of our trip in Barcelona. It is better to have a guide to tell you the history and facts that you wouldn’t know if you visited the sites yourself. I have used the audio recordings and they are too detailed and boring .

Sagrada Familia Small-Group Guided Tour with Skip-the-Line Ticket
Olga was super! We loved the Sagrada Familia visit with her. She was extremely knowledgeable, entertaining, and passionate about Gaudí and Barcelona in general. The tour was very well organized and we had the possibility to skip the long queues. One of the best tours we’ve ever experienced. Don't miss this tour!

This tour was amazing, so comprehensive! Our guide Rob was great. He was so informative and took us, to what we felt, were a lot of the major spots. Obviously, the Sagrada Familia was a must, but we also got to see so much of the city.

Skip the Line: Park Guell and La Sagrada Familia Guided Tour
My girlfriend and I booked the park Guell and la Sagrada familia tours while in Barcelona. Our tour guide, Olga, was really knowledgeable, entertaining, and a great guide throughout our visit in Spain. I would definitely recommend her and this package to anyone looking to visit Barcelona.

Barcelona in a Day: Casa Batlló, Parc Güell, Sagrada Familia
Montse is one of the best guides we have had. I’ve taken may tours in different countries and she is by far at the very top of our list. The pace was exactly as expected and the sites were amazing. We loved La Sagrada Familia the best but we also enjoyed the walking tour through Old Town Barcelona and learning about all the history.

Sagrada Familia Skip-The-Line Guided Tour (English, Spanish or French)
Our guide was very knowledgable and he gave us all time to digest the information, answered all pur questions politely and understood that seeing something for the first time that you needed time to take it all in. What I loved most about our visit was the beautiful streams of coloured light from the stained glass windows inside the Sagrada Familia. They were literally out of this world, like I have imagined heaven to be!

Sagrada Familia and Montserrat Small Group Tour with Hotel pick-up
I really appreciated the guide Gaspar being not only early for the tour but accommodating and provided information for all aspects of the tour. He was prepared for the drive to Montserrat by providing tidbits about the surrounding area and to the actual destinations provided in excursion details. I was amazed by Sagrada Familia and how passing by it didn't compare to the interior of the building and the history provided by the guide.

Skip the Line ticket to Sagrada Familia and access to the tours in Barcelona
Sagrada familia is a wonderful place absolutely worth a visit! I have never seen anything like that before. I used the audio guide and this is a must as well. Because the facade and the interior are both full of symbols and the story of Gaudi himself is a blast!

How to Get There

The Sagrada Familia is centrally located near the Sagrada Familia metro stop on lines 2 and 5. It’s also easy to reach on foot from just about anywhere in the old city. The main entrance sits along Carrer Marina in front of the basilica’s nativity facade.

When to Get There

The Sagrada Familia is open throughout the year but can be extremely busy in summer, so a skip-the-line ticket is recommended. The facade looks markedly different when illuminated at night than it does during the day, so plan for at least a short visit during both periods. Note that the basilica holds an international mass each Sunday morning in several languages; entrance is free, but space is limited.

Visiting the Sagrada Familia Museum

The basement beneath the passion façade houses a museum covering the temple's construction through drawings, photographs, and plaster models. Entry to the museum is included in basilica admission, and visitors can see the working modeling studio where Gaudi’s restored maquettes are reproduced to aid in the structure’s ongoing construction.
